Nether Edge Bowling Club, Sheffield
Thursday 16 June 2022 | 8pm

This event is now SOLD OUT and there will not be unreserved tickets available on the door. Also Helen Rice has had an unexpected circumstance and can’t play for us but the music gods are still smiling and the very excellent Katy Ryder is stepping in at short notice. Katy is a lovely singer and part of the three piece band, Lonan, who delighted us back before Covid.

Tickets are £4 in advance (£5 on the night if we don’t sell out, usually we do) and we will also be doing fundraising activities on the night so bring cash and a generous heart.
This month we are raising funds for SAYiT (The Sheena Amos Youth Trust) who support the emotional wellbeing of young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. This year all our events have a strong mental health theme.
Our guests this month:
On the Back Porch (Issy Howie and Bob Delbridge) are masters of Old Time American music, as well as playing a big part in supporting the community of music-makers in Sheffield. Issy is also one third of the Outlaw Sisters and Bob is a key figure in The Bapchilds, regarded by many as Britain’s leading exponents of Honkytonk music.
Helen Rice is Showing Off
Helen writes quirky songs exploring a broad range of themes and reflecting on her experiences as a middle-aged disabled woman who likes bread a bit too much. As well as solo showing off she is a member of Fish Pie Cabaret and performs folk music with Mush Melons. She is very funny and often quite moving.
Unfortunately the PITSMOOR LADIES UKELELE CHORALE have had to pull out as Caroline has had a painful accident. Thanks to Helen for stepping up at short notice and a speedy recovery to Caroline (who is still cracking jokes)
And of of course your resident orchestra, Break a Leg! will be starting each half of the evening. Is it Folk Music? Is it Jazz? Are they Sheffield’s smallest Swing Band? Who knows? Who cares?
